Black History Month Reflections

As Black History Month comes to a close, the responsibility it calls us to continues.
This month has prompted reflection on what it means to honour Black history at a time when conversations about equity are increasingly polarized—and too often deprioritized.
Black History Month is about truth. Let’s recognize that many of the leadership capabilities we value today—resilience, courage, innovation, and collective responsibility—have long been demonstrated by Black leaders and communities.
Honouring that history requires action, not just acknowledgement. It means asking clear, accountable questions:
Are we building cultures where equity is embedded in how decisions are made—not treated as a standalone initiative?
Are we developing leaders who understand inclusion as a core responsibility of leadership, not a passing priority?
We take seriously the responsibility that comes—to listen, to learn, and to act with consistency. Not performatively. Not seasonally. But in ways that show up in how we lead, invest, and hold ourselves accountable.
At Radiant, we believe leadership, culture, and equity are inseparable. Organizations that will succeed in the future are those that intentionally build belonging, strengthen accountability, and expand access to opportunity—even when doing so requires discomfort or sustained effort.
As this month closes, our commitment is straightforward:
To continue doing the work.
To build leadership capacity that advances inclusion.
To partner in ways that move beyond statements toward measurable impact.
Black History Month does not end in February—and neither does our responsibility to lead differently.
